Ben wrote a patriotic speech for his fifth grade class and he was chosen to represent his class in the school speech contest. Ben wrote every word himself and delivered a great speech. Way to go Ben!!

Cub Scout Pinewood Derby '09
Ben and Nick participated in the annual Cub Scout Pinewood Derby last Thursday. There were 20 cars in the race. Ben and Nick didn't have the fastest cars, but they definitely had the coolest designs - Nick's car was a football field (for the Dallas Cowboys, of course!) and Ben's was a Pizza delivery car. Ben's car made it to the top seven in the race. Everyone had a fun night!

Nana and the Boys
Nana has decided to become a snowbird! And we love it! Nana came for Christmas and has been here ever since. We have really enjoyed having her in our home. We love her Family Home Evening lessons. The boys have really loved getting to know Nana better and sharing their lives with her. She is a great cheerleader and loves to hear about all of their accomplishments. Nana is going home this weekend and we are going to miss her. We are looking forward to our snowbird returning next winter!
Another Season Ends
Another basketball season has come to an end. Ben and Nick both played the winter season of basketball with the City of Peoria. Brian Derrick coached both teams and they had such a fun time. We appreciate all of Brian's hard work. It takes a lot of time (and patients) to coach kids sports and we have loved being on his team. The boys had a great time!

A Quiet Week Ahead!?!
Yea!! It should be a quiet week before spring break - which will be anything but quiet! I think all the homework projects are done for now. There are no big events planned for the week, and basketball ended on Saturday, so we can take a little sports breather! I hate to say any of this, because I might jinx the whole week and something major will hit!
We had a wonderful weekend. Elder Russel M. Nelson was at our Stake Conference to put in a new presidency. He spoke at the adult session on Saturday night and again on Sunday morning. He is always one of my favorite speakers in conference and it was incredible to hear him in person. He has such an incredible spirit and I am so thrilled that we were able to be there to hear him.

It's all the rage....
Well, I have finally decided that if I can't beat them, I will join them! After several months of blog stalking, (ok...you do it too!) I have decided to create a Dorsey family blog. I am a terrible journal keeper, so maybe this will get me in gear!
It has been a busy week at the Dorsey house. Ben was chosen to represent his class at the Patriotic Speech Competition on Tuesday. He gave a speech called "Together We Can Do So Mu ch." He did a fantastic job...I think he has speeches in his future! The speech competition was followed by the Science Fair and then a puppet book report on Bill Gates. That's right, a puppet of Bill Gates....what next? So it was a busy school week for Ben.
The great news is that Ben received a blue ribbon at the Science Fair....yea!!! It is fun to see hard work pay off. Our little scientist was very happy!
